In this week’s episode, I talk to you about why blogging is a great avenue for photographers to market themselves. Personally, I’ve been blogging for many years (since 2011!) and it’s been a great way for me to get in front of a variety of clients, whether they’re new or have been working with me for some time.
Your blog is a home base for your business and unlike other social media sites, your content stays evergreen. With Instagram, a post may lose interest after a day or two but with a blog, you can continuously share and repurpose your content. You own your website and all of the content that you upload to it — unlike other platforms where you’re at the mercy of an ever-changing algorithm.
A blog also helps you to build authority with your audience, which can lead to increased trust within your community. You have the space and the freedom to write a variety of different posts that can help guide your clients towards booking with you and to show them the value of the services you’re offering.
When you optimize your blog with SEO best practices, you allow Google to rank your website at the top of search results — which will inevitably bring you more readers and potential clients. Pinterest can also be a great resource when it comes to driving traffic back to your blog.
